History

Although established as an independent University at 2005 but it began on 1976 as a branch of Cairo University. Finally, the presidential decree N.184 dated in 2005 was issued to establish Beni-Suef University. The main campus is located in the entrance of the city and contains Faculties of Commerce, Law, Arts and Sciences. It also includes the University administration building, Central library, University press Unit as well as University Open Education Center. Faculties of Engineering, industrial education and physical education are located in the eastern Nile Beni-Suef. Faculties of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Education are located in the nearby of the main campus. New Beni-Suef University Capmus will be allocated an area of 300 acres (1.2 km2) in the eastern Nile Beni-suef seriousness of the future expansions.

Organization

Faculties and Institutes

There are 12 faculties as well as one institute of the Beni-Suef University, each with its own internal structure and activities. The heads of Beni-Suef faculties are known as dean. The faculties and institutes join together as the committee of University to discuss policy and to deal with the central University administration. The university and its faculties provide social, cultural, and recreational activities for their members and students. Faculties fellow the rules of ministry of higher education for admitting undergraduate.

Teaching and degrees

Bachelor and licence degrees are provided depending on the faculties. Research degrees at the master's and PhD or doctoral level are conferred in all subjects studied at graduate level at the university.

Academic year

The academic year is divided into two terms. First term; September to January and second term from February to May.

Research

Beni-Suef University has a strong research culture. Research work is recognised for its impact and relevance to the region and the nation community. as it possesses strong links with social, humanities, medical and animal health bodies and the community through the faculties' activities. The University is highly regarded in transferring research outcomes to commercial reality.Indigenous Higher Education Researches , training, mentoring and support of emerging indigenous researchers, and is recognized for the relevance of its research and impact on indigenous issues.
